Limited or Emergency Exam - This exam takes place when an unexpected dental issue has come up that was not presented as a problem at your initial visit or hygiene (cleaning) visit. Appropriate x-rays are performed; usually a single x-ray is taken of the problem area. Dr. Haynes will check any necessary symptoms (pressure, temperature, sensitivity, etc.) for a accurate diagnosis. If time allows treatment may be performed at the time of exam.

(This exam will take about 30min)

Exams

New Patient Exam - A new patient exam is typically performed at your first visit. Allowing you and Dr. Haynes to get to know one another and address any concerns you may have regarding your oral health.

Digital x-rays are taken (if current x-rays from another dentist are not provided) and Dr. Haynes performs a comprehensive examination. This examination will consist of charting any existing dental work that has been performed in the past. As well as any future treatment that may be needed. Periodontal charting, to check the relationship between the teeth and gums, this also allows Dr. Haynes to determine the type of cleaning schedule that will best suit your needs. She not only checks your teeth and gums but also the muscles of the head, neck and jaw, the tongue, salivary glands, the nervous system of the head and neck. Dr. Haynes is looking for areas that may present abnormalities such as oral cancer, lumps, swellings, discolorations, and ulcerations. You can rest assured that she is leaving no stone unturned and any treatment plan presented will include the best possible treatment options for your specific diagnosis.

(This introductory examination will take about 90 min.)

* Let’s C U Smile does offer additional oral cancer screening using the Vizilite Oral Cancer Screening System for an additional fee.

Periodic Exam - Also known as a yearly examination. This exam is performed simultaneously with four bitewing x-rays at routine cleaning visits. Giving Dr. Haynes the opportunity to look after any changes that may be occurring with your teeth and bone. The purpose is to check for oral cancer and catch new or recurring cavities (or other treatment) when they are small and less costly.
